Kookaburra Kids 5th Corporate Charity Lunch a HUGE Success

The 5th Kookaburra Kids Corporate Charity Lunch took place last Friday, 23rdMarch at Doltone House, Jones Bay Wharf.

Hosted by Kookaburra Kids’ Ambassador Allan Sparkes CV, OAM, VA, the lunch was a great success raising over $75,000 for Kookaburra Kids! This figure will make a huge difference to the children Kookaburra Kids supports – thank you!

Here’s a summary of all the Kookaburra fun that took place at the lunch.

This year, 290 guests came together to help raise funds for kids living in families affected by mental illness.

Guests were treated to an inspiring and exciting program with an interesting insight into Mental Health in the Workplace shared by a panel of speakers and facilitated by Kookaburra Kids’ Ambassador, media personality, Chris Bath. Thank you to our guest speakers Lucy Brogden (Chair and Commissioner, National Mental Health Commission), David Bowie, Vice President SAS Institute; Adrian Talbot Executive Manager, RSL Life Care Homes for Heroes / 2018 Invictus Games Ambassador and Karen Oldaker, General Manager Wellbeing Medibank Health.

Kookaburra Kids’ Young Ambassador Rose Cox took to the stage to tell her story of growing up in a household with a parent living with mental illness and the positive impact Kookaburra Kids has made, and continues to have, on her life.

Inspired by Rose’s story, many guests took part in the live crowdfunding, live auctions and silent auctions, and lucky laughing Kookaburra draw – all helping to raise an amazing amount to support the many children who are living in families affected by mental illness.

Kookaburra Kids’ Ambassador Jim Wilson did an outstanding job getting the crowd involved – even auctioning off four Jim Wilson Sports / Channel 7 Experience Packages!

A surprise live auction item was also presented to the guests on the day by His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d) Governor of New South Wales and The Governor’s wife, Mrs Hurley.

Mrs Hurley announced to the guests that they were kindly donating two commissioned gold Christmas decorations of Government House Sydney. Two lucky bidders took home these exclusive items which are unavailable for purchase.

We take this opportunity to sincerely thank all our sponsors, donors, suppliers, guests and volunteers for their amazing support and generosity. We look forward to seeing you at the next Kookaburra Kids event.
