We would like to thank everyone who came along to celebrate this special night, as well as all those who donated a prize, sponsored the event and volunteered – all working together to raise funds and awarenesS for children living in families affected by mental illness.
On Saturday the 7th October, Kookaburra Kids held its inaugural Gala Ball – A Night of Dreams, and what a night it was!
Here’s what our guests got up to…
Upon entry, guests became the stars posing in front the media wall, all looking fabulous in their beautiful dresses and suits with fine bowties. After their photo shoot, guests enjoyed champagne and canapés while mingling with the crowd.
At 7pm guests made their way into the ballroom, greeted by dreamy décor and dazzling lights.
The night featured the talent of Kookaburra Kids ambassador and media personality Chris Bath as MC, the amazing voice of Fasika Ayallew and dance floor favourites The Martini Club.
The evening then opened with Fasika performing, I Had Dream accompanied by the KRS Dance troop weaving through the crowd on their way to the stage.
After this inspiring performance, Chris Bath proceeded to host a night full of dreams, entertainment, laughter and giving. Guests were treated to an inspiring Dream video, capturing some of the many dreams of Kookaburra Kids’ children and volunteers. Kookaburra Kids volunteers also played a special role in the event, joining Chris Bath on stage all dressed in yellow capes. This fun part of the night was to acknowledge all Kookaburra Kids volunteers for their dedication to making a difference in the lives of Kookaburra Kids – we think they are all SUPER heroes.
Long-time supporter Count Charitable Foundation kicked off the donations with a very generous $15,000 cheque presented on the night. Guests then expressed their amazing generosity with many raffle tickets being sold alongside a silent auction. The live auction featured fantastic items up for grabs, such as a luxurious Scenic 15-day European Cruise, Fairfax and Roberts Dining with Diamonds experience and two VIP Jim Wilson experiences.
First prize in the raffle was a getaway to the exclusive Orpheus Island. Drawn on the night, Chris Bath and Kookaburra Kids CEO Pam Brown had a bit of fun on stage and announced the winner by calling their phone number. There was great suspense in the crowd as guests waited to see if it was going to be their phone that rung.
After the raffle, guests then danced and celebrated the fabulous night to the pumping sounds of The Martini Club.
