Following a comprehensive executive search to identify an outstanding individual to lead Kookaburra Kids, the Board of Australian Kookaburra Kids Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Giles as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Australian Kookaburra Kids Foundation, with effect 14 January 2019.
Chris has 15 years’ experience as a senior executive in senior roles within complex and diverse national organisations including working as Assistant Chief Operating Officer for National Disability Services and General Manager for Surf Life Saving Australia.
“I’m looking forward to joining Kookaburra Kids at such an exciting time in its history” Giles said.
“The past successes of the organisation place it in a strong position to develop a sustainable growth strategy aimed at supporting more children in need across Australia,
“I am excited by the opportunity to work with the Foundation’s committed staff, board, volunteers and supporters in realising the organisations potential and experiencing the programs and activities that continue to be so successful,” Giles said.
On behalf of the Board, Chairperson Alexandra Zammit said, “The Board looks forward to Chris joining our talented leadership team in continuing to build on the legacy of AKKF as we continue to grow our national service offerings to families affected by mental illness.”
Chris has a demonstrated record as a solid and inclusive leader responsible for transformational change of organisations, building skills and relationships in complex
multi-stakeholder environments together with sound corporate governance, financial and human resource management.
A notable success of Chris’s career to date was the establishment of the “On the Same Wave” program (OTSW) following the 2005 Cronulla riots. The OTSW program supports young Australians of all backgrounds to have a full beach experience, and to engage with Surf Life Saving around Australia.
The Board of Directors at AKKF congratulate Chris on his appointment and invite stakeholders and supporters of the foundation to welcome him as he leads the organisation into its next chapter.
