Last week Kookaburra Kids was invited to attend the Living Well: Value Your Mind Mental Health Month BBQ at Parliament House. Hosted by the NSW Mental Health Commission and the office of the Minister for Mental Health, the Hon. Pru Goward, MP.

The aim of the event was to bring together NSW MPs and their staff with a variety of community mental health service providers with the purpose of engaging with them about the mental health services available for different age groups and areas of need.

Kookaburra Kids CEO Pam Brown and Program Manager Suzy Nixon had a great time spreading the word about the Kookaburra Kids program, the support it provides and the affect mental illness can have on families and children.

It was encouraging to see a lot of MPs in attendance participating in Mental Health Month and taking a genuine interest in NSW mental health services.  A few MPs stopped by the Kookaburra Kids stall including Lee Evans MP for Healthcote and the Premier of New South Wales Mike Baird MP.
