In keeping with the 3-year strategic plan Kookaburra Kids will be introducing a regional office in the Illawarra in 2016. This expansion will allow the Foundation to meet the growing demand for support from within the Illawarra area.
The project is set to launch in early 2016 and is being partly funded by the St George Foundation.
The St George Foundation’s grant of $48,644 will allow Kookaburra Kids to increase the number of respite camps and school holiday activity days offered in the area. This funding will help Kookaburra Kids to provide much needed support to the children and families affected by mental illness, giving the kids a break from their everyday lives and delivering mental health education in a positive, safe environment.
The St George Foundation provides grants to organisations and projects that work to provide a brighter future for children who are physically, socially or economically disadvantaged.
The St George Foundation’s Neelam Tandon said, “These activities also provide the opportunity to break the cycle of mental illness as well as meet other kids in similar families and develop lifelong friendships.”
Thank you St George Foundation for helping Kookaburra Kids to continue to support children living in families affected by mental illness. You can read more about the St George Foundation on the St George website.
