Final camp for the year was held November 8/9/10 for our Year 9-12 kids. Always lots of fun with the teenagers and this year particularly so as we took them to a new camp site, Wollongong Surf & Leisure.
This camp was sponsored by Sydney Airport Corp. Ltd. (SACL). We were very fortunate to have Sally Fielke (GM Corporate Affairs) visit us and present us with a cheque for $20,000. To help make Sally’s visit extra special we had the kids prepare a special feast with SACL branding and tag lines. All the kids did a fantastic job with some creative tag lines including “fat builds brains, brains builds planes”. The meals were prepared in line with our healthy eating program (called Mission Nutrition) currently being implemented thanks to funding received from Medibank private. The boys had made a dish with healthy fats essential for brain development.
Also at this camp we introduced the first of our girls enrichment programs thanks to Big Sister Foundation. They too joined us to see the new program their funding has contribute to.
It wasn’t all work though, we treated the to kids with a day out at Jamberoo. We were extremely lucky with the weather because our last day at camp was a wash out. This didn’t dampen our spirits though still managing loads of fun on Sunday!
