Hon Dr Andrew Charlton currently serves as the Federal Member for Parramatta in NSW.

Before entering parliament Dr Charleton was a successful entrepreneur, academic and economist.

He has studied at the University of Sydney and Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar and graduated with a PhD in economics.

Dr Charlton has since written two books on the economy and co-authored ‘Fair Trade for All’ with the Nobel Prize winning economist Joseph Stiglitz.

The Parramatta MP has also worked alongside former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, as his Senior Economic Advisor. In this role, he helped to navigate Australia’s way through the 2007-2008 Global Financial Crisis and travelled across the world, working with other economists to save thousands of jobs and businesses.

While in government, Dr Charleton was appointed Australia’s senior official to the G20 Leaders Summits and represented the Prime Minister at the United Nations Climate Conference.

As an economist, he worked at the London School of Economics, Oxford University and the United Nations, and was even named by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader.
