Volunteer Spotlight – Carla

Carla has been volunteering from August 2017 and has already volunteered at 6 camps…and she can’t wait for the next one!

Why did you decide to volunteer for Kookaburra Kids?
I was looking for a new challenge and an opportunity to give back to the community. Kookaburra Kids gave me the opportunity to do both and I haven’t looked back ever since! I have done 6 camps since August 2017 and I can’t wait to do even more!

What do you enjoy about volunteering for Kookaburra Kids?
The end of camp slide show always brings a big smile to my face. I love seeing all the kids being kids and having a fun weekend. I also love joining in on the activities with the kids, they are always lots of fun…not only the kids but the volunteers as well!

Can you tell us your favourite Kookaburra Kids experience?
It is honestly so hard to choose just one! I walk away from every camp with a huge smile on my face. I am always blown away by how supportive and encouraging all the kids are of one another. I love seeing new friendships being made and hearing the kids share their experiences with one another.

When you aren’t volunteering for Kookaburra Kids, what do you like to do with your time?
When I am not volunteering, I love swimming at the beach, going for a walk or catching up with friends.

If you had to audition for a reality TV show, which one would it be and why?
I would probably audition for a cooking show with my Mum. We both love cooking!
