Program Milestones Across Queensland

It has been a significant period of firsts for Kookaburra Kids, with the delivery of two milestone programs across Queensland. In partnership with Wellways Carer Gateway, we proudly delivered our first Young Carers Camp in South East Queensland, a program designed to support young carers impacted by family mental illness. The weekend offered opportunities for teamwork, reflection, and connection, combining outdoor activities with mental health Chat Groups and dedicated Carer Support to ensure every participant felt safe, supported, and heard.

Further north, our first Bupa Regenerate program took place at Crystal Creek near Townsville, inviting young people to connect with one another and the natural environment through a series of nature-based activities and guided mental health discussions. Delivered under the Bupa Foundation’s Healthy Kids, Healthy Planet philosophy, the program encouraged participants to build resilience, confidence, and self-kindness while strengthening their relationship with the natural world.

These programs reflect our ongoing commitment to creating diverse, accessible experiences that empower young people to thrive beyond the impacts of family mental illness.
