Several Kookaburra Kids families in Townsville recently had the opportunity to attend an NRL match through the North Queensland Cowboys Field of Dreams program, an initiative designed to support individuals who may be experiencing social exclusion or disadvantage.

The impact of these experiences is best captured in the words of those involved:

“I’m so excited to be this close to the field; this is my first game in Townsville.”
“We were so excited to come; we planned this all week with the kids, and my son is loving it.”

For the young people and families we support, opportunities like this help foster connection, confidence and a sense of belonging, all critical protective factors for mental health and wellbeing.
