For the first time, Kookaburra Kids has delivered a camp for Defence Kids in the Gippsland region of Victoria, opening the door for local young people to access support closer to home.

At The Summit Camp in Trafalgar, young people took on muddy obstacle courses, inflatable challenges, and adventures that pushed comfort zones in all the right ways, choosing how they wanted to participate.

For many, it was their very first Kookaburra Kids camp. New friendships formed quickly, and Defence-focused chat groups created safe space to talk, connect, and feel understood by others who know what Defence life can be like.

This work is made possible through our partnership with Australian Government Department of Veterans’ Affairs, whose support helps us reach Defence and Veteran families with early intervention mental health education programs.

It’s all part of Kookaburra Kids’ commitment to reaching more young people in regional communities with life-changing support, ensuring where you live doesn’t limit the care, connection and opportunities you deserve.
