Three Brothers, One Shared Journey with Kookaburra Kids

At Kookaburra Kids, we’re out to create positive mental health outcomes for young people impacted by family mental illness, through camps, activity days, and programs that build connection, confidence and resilience. And recently, we saw this mission come to life in a truly special way.
For the first time, all three brothers from one family, Chase, Lakeyn, and Banjo, joined us on program together.
Chase has been with us for years and is always a joy to have. Lakeyn is known for his friendly, helpful nature and willingness to support others on program. And Banjo, our youngest, joined us for his very first camp at Cataract NSW.
He jumped straight into the giant swing, asking to go first, his face lighting up after the initial scream on the way down. Later that night, he surprised everyone by tucking into dinner and declaring, “That was a 10 out of 10!”
For his mum, that moment meant more than words can say:
“With his sensory challenges and history with food aversion, having him not only eat the meal but genuinely enjoy it was something I was so happy to hear about. It was a real milestone for him, and I’m so grateful your team created such a supportive environment where he felt comfortable enough to try something new.”
We’re so proud to walk alongside families like this one and to witness the power of connection and support in action.
