Staff highlight – Erin

We’ve got another awesome profile to share, this time from one of our Program Coordinators, Erin! She’s been kind enough to answer a few questions we’ve thrown her; check out her responses below!

How long have you been working for AKKF?

Just over 18 months now but it seems like a lifetime 😉

What does your job entail?

My official title within Kookaburra Kids is ‘Program Coordinator’ however I’d like to think of myself as a ‘fun facilitator’… this is mainly because my job is to have fun with our young people and volunteers at new and exciting activities all while sharing my knowledge of mental health. I get to work throughout the east coast of Australia connecting with our amazing families on pretty much a daily basis – what a life right?

What do you like most about your job?

It is extreeeeeemely hard to pick just ONE thing I like most about my job, but it all comes down to the relationships I’ve built on program with our young people, volunteers and staff. There is nothing like a group full of smiles and laughter at activities.

What do you find most rewarding about working for AKKF?

The most rewarding thing about working for Australian Kookaburra Kids is seeing the growth that young people make throughout each activity whether that is physical, emotional, spiritual or mental. The safe space of our activities allows our young people to just be themselves and that is the best feeling in the world!

What do you like to do when you aren’t working?

When I’m not doing one of the coolest jobs in the world I am taking and teaching dance classes, hanging out with my besties and their puppy or going on adventures with my closest pals.

If you could have any superpower what would it be?

Teleportation, because who doesn’t want to click their fingers and miss morning traffic or be in a new place?

Pineapple on pizza?

Young people who have done activities with me will know this one… Hint: it’s an unpopular opinion to some. If any young people or volunteers think they know the answer I’d love to hear it!
