We were fortunate to attend the official opening of the new Wellways Carer Hub in Cairns, marking the beginning of an exciting chapter for carer wellbeing in the region.

This new space is part of the wider Carer Gateway Hubs initiative launched across Queensland and New South Wales: a network of inclusive, welcoming environments where carers can access free support, connect with others, and recharge.

Kookaburra Kids’ Young Carer Community Outreach Coordinator, Miyu Inai, was proud to attend the opening and will be hosting face-to-face Carer Star sessions from the new space. The team at Wellways were warm and enthusiastic about future collaboration and are excited to welcome our group of Kookaburra Kids young carers into the hub.

We look forward to the opportunities this partnership brings as we continue to support young carers impacted by family mental illness across the Far North Queensland and NSW regions.
