In March, the Kookaburra Kids team attended the Mental Health Sector Expo hosted by Mental Health Australia at Parliament House in Canberra.

The event brought together organisations from across the country working to strengthen Australia’s mental health system and support the wellbeing of communities.

It was a valuable opportunity to speak with policymakers about the work we do supporting young people impacted by family mental illness, including our Defence Kids program, which supports young people growing up in Defence and veteran families.

We were pleased to connect with Luke Gosling MP, Member for Solomon and Special Envoy for Defence, Veterans’ Affairs and Northern Australia, and Renee Coffey MP, Member for Griffith, to share more about the importance of early mental health support for young people.

Events like this provide an important platform to highlight the needs of young people and families while connecting with other organisations working across the mental health sector nationally.
