Partnership to even further improve child safety standards at Kookaburra Kids.
In a move to further improve, enhance, and maintain our standards and culture around the safety of children and young people, the Australian Kookaburra Kids Foundation has partnered with the Australian Childhood Foundation in 2024.
This partnership means Kookaburra Kids will participate in the Childhood Foundation’s ‘Safeguarding Children and Accreditation Program.’ This program assists organisations in implementing best practice policies and standards to protect children and young people in their care. It also promotes a culture that safeguards children and young people from abuse and exploitation.
As a unique voluntary accreditation scheme, it is designed for organisations that take their duty of care to children, young people, and their families seriously.
The Safeguarding Children Consultants will support Australian Kookaburra Kids Foundation in an ongoing way to:
• enhance and maintain a collective culture that promotes the safety of children and young people;
• review, design, and execute specific policies and procedures to protect children and young people;
• provide relevant training to management, staff, and volunteers;
• engage the involvement of children, young people, and their families in safeguarding practices;
• implement a consistent set of endorsed operational standards at every level; and,
• respond effectively to situations in which a child is abused or exploited by an individual involved in the
management or delivery of a service or activity.
