Meet our Staff – Jack!

In this installment of meeting our staff, we get to learn more about one of our amazing Program Coordinators, Jack!

  • How long have you been working for AKKF?

I have been working for AKKF for a bit over 6 months.

  • What does your job entail?

I plan and run fun educational programs. These programs allow young people to spend the day doing something exciting like surfing, horse riding or going on rollercoasters, while making new friends and hanging out with their Kookaburra friends, and also learning about mental health.

  • What do you like most about your job?

Spending time with all the cool people that are involved with kookaburra kids and getting creative with the activities I plan. I want to give our young people the best experiences that I can!

  • What do you find most rewarding about working for AKKF?

Seeing the friendship and connection that our young people make with each other. Being able to provide a safe space for young people to make connections with other young people also affected by mental health issues and seeing them talk about it and get support from their friends.

  • What do you like to do when you aren’t working?

Spending time with my family – I have two young children. We love to go fishing, swimming at the beach and walking our dog. We also love to go on holidays to the snow and to Hamilton Island.

  • If you could have any superpower what would it be?

I would love to be able to teleport anywhere I wanted. So, I could go snowboarding in Canada in the morning have lunch in Italy, head back to put on a Kookaburra Kids afternoon activity then head home for dinner. What a great day!

  • Pineapple on pizza? Yes or No

They make pizza without pineapple??? That’s just madness.
