Fostering Mental Well-being: A Call to Action by Noella Ennis, Head of Clinical Services, Australian Kookaburra Kids Foundation

Mental Health Month and World Mental Health Day are initiatives that resonate with the mission and values of the Australian Kookaburra Kids Foundation.

Each year as October rolls around, we look forward to engaging in this global campaign to shed light on mental health issues and cultivate an environment that prioritises mental wellbeing.

The objective of Mental Health Month is to raise awareness about mental health challenges and to promote overall mental wellbeing. It serves as a platform for us to advocate prioritising mental health and supporting our loved ones, including family, friends, and colleagues, who might be facing mental health challenges.

Australia continues to grapple with a significant mental health crisis, which further emphasises the urgency of our work at Kookaburra Kids. We are dedicated to addressing the stigma surrounding mental health and equipping young people with the tools they need. However, it’s equally essential for us to consider our own wellbeing and extend that care to one another.

Participating in Mental Health Month is a demonstration of our commitment to the welfare of both ourselves and our communities. It’s an invitation for everyone to unite, fostering empathy, understanding, and a strong sense of community. Together, we can build an environment where everyone feels secure, appreciated, and supported.

We urge people across Australia to actively engage in Mental Health Month activities. Please follow the provided links to join in on enjoyable activities. Let’s come together and collectively make a positive difference for mental health.
